How to Join OSTCAN Membership
Are you interested in becoming a professional member of OSTCAN, and joining hundreds of highly-skilled OMPs across Canada? Please first review the information on the Membership Criteria page in order to determine if you are eligible for membership.
Once you have completed your educational requirements for OSTCAN membership, you can then register to sit for the OSTCAN Certification In-Person Exam in CAO Calgary or Hamilton Locations.
This exam covers ethics, red flags, anatomy, physiology and osteopathic problem solving. This is offered once a month.
Important Information:
- The OSTCAN certification exam is now in person.
- Exam dates take place on specific Mondays through the spring and summer.
- They are held at the CAO during student testing period.
- The Exam is delivered in Brightspace and proctored by Lockdown Browser online and in person proctors in the testing room.
- Please arrive at the CAO 30 minutes before your test time.
- Bring a laptop to take the exam.
- Ensure your laptop has Lockdown Browser software installed on it.

Required Documents prior to Exam Registration:
We ask that you provide the following:
- A scanned copy of your graduation transcripts from a regulated international osteopathic school OR a letter of completion from an OSTCAN approved Canadian Osteopathic School.
- A photocopy of professional insurance; liability and malpractice; recommended minimum of 5 million.
- A scanned copy of a negative Vulnerable Sector Screening police check (VSS)

Your VSC result will automatically be sent to OSTCAN within a few hours. We will contact you via email if we require more information. - For Internationally trained applicants, proof of professional membership as a current member in good standing, in a regulated international professional association

Exam Fees:
- Exam Fee: $250 + HST
- Rescheduling Fee: $100
- Exam Retake Fee: $150
Once we receive this documentation, your Exam details will be sent to you within 1 week (7 days) before the Exam date.

- All dues are non-refundable.
- If a member joins mid-year the fee will be prorated based on the month the member has joined.
